Bird Bird Touch Touch Sing Sing
Nguyễn + Transitory
New Emergences proudly presents a newly commissioned work-in-progress residency/performance with artists Nguyễn Baly and Tara Transitory. They will develop an immersive site-specific performance, working alongside local performers, to explore South-East Asian, diasporic queer existences and histories, using forms of collective (de)colonial resistance.
Their story is a quiet coup attempting to displace structural imbalances, to disorientate geographies, and to find space for silenced narratives. And somewhere in the peripheral spectrum between knowing and unknowing, Nguyễn + Transitory collide with emotions, thoughts and intentions, allowing them to unfold through touch, proximity and movement, to weave an intimate world of lost magic.
Bird Bird, Touch Touch, Sing Sing will be in residence at WORM, Rotterdam 5-8th March 2019.
